The Malaysian Contingent showcased unwavering dedication on the fifth day of the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 on Monday, 27th April 2026. The national athletes competed across multiple disciplines in Sailing and 3×3 Basketball.
The waters at Haihong Square remained a primary focus as the Sailing series progressed through critical races. In the Girl’s ILCA4, Ms. Nur Hafizanah Zailan continues to lead the Malaysian charge, holding the 5th spot overall after nine races and is followed closely by Ms. Sara Amanda Mohd Noor Azman, who sits on 6th In the Boy’s ILCA4, Mr. Muhammad Aiman Aqeel Bin Mohd Firdaus is currently 8th overall after nine races, while Mr. Muhammad Hilfi Nafael Bin Mohd Hasrizan sits in 10th.
In the Optimist Girl’s event, Ms. Lydia Hannah Jasmine Lukman is placed 6th overall after nine races, while Ms. Mia Azrania Mohd Azrald holds the 7th spot. In the Boy’s event, Mr. Muhammad Yaasin Syahrizan delivered a consistent performance to move up to 3rd overall after nine races, while Mr. Khairul Ilzani Mohd Afendy sits on 10th.
In Foil Windsurfing, Ms. Marcella Wilson Villaceran is in 9th place in the Girl’s event after 12 races. In the Boy’s event, Mr. Muhammad Hafizin Mansor and Mr. Muhammad Yusri Syahrizan are currently in 10th and 11th positions respectively after 13 races.
Over at the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium, the 3×3 Basketball arena was electric. The Malaysian Women’s Team secured their place in the quarterfinals after topping Group B following a narrow 16-14 win over Chinese Taipei. Later in the evening, the Men’s Team, who already booked their last eight spot, edged Indonesia 22-11 to also top Group B.
The Malaysian Contingent remains focused and ready for the challenges ahead as they move into the final days of the Games.
