Chefs de Mission Seminar – 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022



(Hangzhou, 25th April 2023) The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) is organising the 2-day Chefs de Mission Seminar on Tuesday, 25th April 2023 and Wednesday, 26th April 2023, at the Intercontinental Hangzhou.

The Opening Ceremony of the Seminar was officiated by H.E. Mr. Song Luzeng (Vice President of the OCA & Chairperson of the OCA Sports Committee), H.E. Mr. Yang Shu’an (Vice President of the COC & Vice President of the HAGOC) and H.E. Mr. Zhang Jiansheng (Vice Governor of the Zhejiang Province & Vice President of the HAGOC).

On behalf of the OCA, H.E. Mr. Song Luzeng stated that the organisation of the Chefs de Mission Seminar is very crucial as it provides a platform for the HAGOC to meet and to attend to all the needs of the participating NOCs.

On behalf of the COC, H.E. Mr. Yang Shu’an thanked all the OCA-Member NOCs for their support towards the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, the third Asian Games to be held in China, after the 11th Asian Games Beijing 1990 and the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou 2010.

On behalf of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, H.E. Mr. Zhang Jiasheng is looking forward to welcoming all the delegation from 45 OCA-Member NOCs to Hanzghou for the 19th Asian Games which will commence in 151 days’ time i.e. on Saturday, 23rd September 2023.

The Seminar was attended by officials from the OCA, COC and delegates from all the 45 OCA-Member NOCs. The OCM was represented by two (2) delegates as follows:

1. Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt Kimfatt Chong, Vice President of OCM, who is also the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 19th Asian Games and President of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia.
2. Mr. Fong Wan Hor, General Manager of OCM.

The HAGOC took the opportunity to provide the latest updates of its preparation as follows:

1. Sports & Sports Entries
2. Anti-Doping
3. Competition & Training Venues
4. Accreditation
5. Athletes Village & Sub-Villages
6. Accommodation, Food & Beverages
7. Transport, Freight & Logistics
8. Finance & Rate Card
9. Media Operation

In the afternoon, the HAGOC coordinated Venue Tour to the following destinations:

1. Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium
2. Hangzhou Asian Games Museum
3. Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Tennis Centre
4. Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatics Sports Arena
5. Asian Games Athletes Villages

“We are very proud to see that the Hangzhou Asian Games Museum is featuring our very owned “𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗔” and “𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗟𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥”, Tan Sri Dr. M. Jegathesan, for having begged 3 gold medals in the 5th Asian Games Bangkok 1966” stated Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt after visiting the said Museum.

The HAGOC had also set up and named the second exhibition hall within the Hangzhou Asian Games Museum as the “Asian’s Focus” Section. This Section is presenting wonderful exhibits from different NOCs aimed to highlight the diversity, sporting spirits and the concept of the Asian Games Family. In support of the noble initiatives by the HAGOC, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, on behalf of the OCM, presented the following Asian Games related items to the Hangzhou Asian Games Museum :

1. Official Attires of the Malaysian Contingent in the past 3 Asian Games: 2010, 2014 and 2018.
2. Official Games Pins of the Malaysian Contingent in the past Asian Games: 2010, 2014 and 2018.

In the evening, the HAGOC hosted a Welcome Reception at the International Hall of the InterContinental Hangzhou. The Welcome Reception was graced by H.E. Liu Jie, Secretary of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Vice President of HAGOC.
