The OCM has kicked-off the collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE) for the inclusion Martial Arts Sports into the sporting program of the Malaysia School Sports Council (Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Malaysia, MSSM).
The first discussion between the OCM and the MOE was hosted by Dr. Latif Muhammad, the Director of the Sports, Co-curricular and Arts Division of the MOE, on Tuesday, 18th October 2022, at the MOE in Putrajaya.
The OCM was official represented by its Vice President, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt and the Secretary General, Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin. They were accompanied by the two (2) General Managers of OCM, namely Mr. Fong Wan Hor and Mr. Norhashimi Hussain and the Executive of Multi-Sport Games, Mr. Izzat Daniel Su Azlan Su.
“Under the leadership of our President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the OCM is initiating the effort for the inclusion of Martial Arts Sports into the MSSM program”;
“The OCM will engage its affiliate members, the National Sports Associations (NSAs) of Martial Arts Sports, to collaborate with the MOE to further support this noble initiative”;
“Martial Arts Sports have been competed in most of the Multi-Sport Games under the jurisdiction of OCM. Therefore, the collaboration between the OCM, the NSAs and the MOE is very essential for the development of Martial Arts Sports at grassroot level especially in schools” stated Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, who is also the President of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM), during the first discussion.
