The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is pleased and welcomes the decision of the Government of Malaysia to allow the re-opening of the sports industry with the concept of Sports Bubble, with effect from 1st January 2021, under strict guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The OCM pays tribute to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Y.B. Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health for taking into account the constraints of the sports industry while considering the health and well-being of society at the same time.
At its last Executive Council Meeting, the OCM and its members, had urged the Ministry of Youth and Sports to review the SOPs for the sports industry particularly to allow for the return of local tournaments, as well as grassroots and recreational sports. It has been one of the most awaited announcements and the OCM hopes that all sports communities and enthusiasts will adopt the new normal that comes into effect for sports.
