International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member
Renowned film star Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is currently Malaysia’s IOC Member, having been elected as one of eight new members in the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai, India, in October 2023.
The Ipoh-born is the third Malaysian representative in the IOC after Tan Sri Hamzah Abu Samah (1978-2004) and Y.A.M. Tan Sri Tunku Imran ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar (2006-2018).
Known for performing her own stunts, Michelle’s contributions to film acting have earned her numerous awards and she made history as the first Asian to win the Oscar for Best Actress through her role in the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” in May 2023.
Michelle’s appointment as an IOC Member underscores her unwavering commitment to the world of sports and her broader global impact, acknowledging her dedication to promoting the Olympic Values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship.
