NOC Malaysia Presented Written Assurances to Host The 34th SEA Games in Malaysia in 2027

The South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) held its 2nd Council Meeting for the term 2023-2025 on Friday, 25th October 2024, at the office of the NOC Thailand, located at 226, Sri Ayudthaya Road, Wachira Dusit, Bangkok.

The 2nd SEAGF Council Meeting was officiated by H.E. General Prawit Wongsuwon, President of NOC Thailand and President of SEAGF of the current term.

H.E. Mr. Sarawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, who is also the Chairperson of the Organising Committee for the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025, also attended the meeting in the afternoon to pledge the full support of the Royal Thai Government in hosting the 33rd SEA Games, scheduled from 9th to 20th December 2025, across 3 co-host cities namely Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla.

NOC Malaysia was officially represented by its President, Dr. Norza Zakaria and Secretary General, Mr. Nazif Najib. The General Manager of NOC Malaysia, Mr. Fong Wan Hor, attended as an observer.

Key highlights of the 2nd SEAGF Council Meeting included:

1. Approval of the Final List of Sports, Disciplines and Events proposed by NOC Thailand for the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025. The Final List includes 50 sports with 569 events along with 3 demonstration sports featuring 12 events. Details are available on the NOC Malaysia website: www.olympic.org.my

2. Presentation of Progress Report by the Organising Committee of the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025.

3. Receipt and acceptance of the Official Logo, Mascot and Theme of the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025.

4. Presentation of written assurances from NOC Malaysia and the Malaysian Government to host the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia in 2027.

“Today, I have officially presented written assurances from NOC Malaysia, together with an official supporting letter from the Malaysian Government, confirming our commitment to host the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia in 2027 to the SEAGF”,

“These written assurances from both NOC Malaysia and the Malaysian Government reflect our dedication, commitment and determination to deliver a memorable SEA Games in 2027”,

“NOC Malaysia, as the custodian of Multi-Sport Games in Malaysia, ought to protect the interests of the SEA Games and the Olympic Movement in the South East Asia region” stated Dr. Norza Zakaria, President of NOC Malaysia and Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone.
