The OCM is organising the 2-day Social Development through Olympism Programme on Saturday, 10 December 2022 and Sunday, 11 December 2022, in Kuala Lumpur.
The Programme which is aimed to promote gender equity and women empowerment, is in line with the strategic roadmap of the Olympic Movement.
The Programme is in the form of “Multilateral First Step to the Olympic Course” for 30 female teachers and coaches from 5 selected schools in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. The theory session of the Course was held on Saturday, 10 December 2022, at the Training Hall, OCM Indoor Sports Complex with only the teachers and coaches, while the practical session will be held on Sunday, 11 December 2022, at the Mini Stadium, National Sports Council, with the participation of the students from the respective schools.
“We have identified the “Multilateral First Step to the Olympic Course” to enhance the knowledge of the teachers and coaches on biomotor abilities, endurance, strength, speed, flexibility and coordination” quoted Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar, the Vice President of OCM and Chairperson of OCM Women and Sport Committee, in her welcome remark.
“On behalf of OCM, we would like to convey our most profound gratitude to the OCA for granting us a total of USD 10,000 to organise this educational programme” quoted Dato’ Haji Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin, the Treasurer of OCM and Chairperson of OCM Finance Committee, in his opening speech.
Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, the Assistant Secretary General of OCM, who is also the Chairperson of OCM Education and Training Committee, also shared a session on Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) with the teachers and coaches.
The “Multilateral First Step to the Olympic Course” is being conducted by 6 qualified lecturers of the World Athletics (WA) namely Mdm. Tong Heng Kit, Mdm. Tamilslve Periasamy, Mr. Chin Peng Hon, Mr. Jeevanathan M Ponniamoorthy, Mr. Tiruvatiran Vedivelu and Mr. Freddy Afendi.
