OCM Women & Sport Seminar



The OCM Women & Sport Committee organised the OCM Women & Sport Seminar, on Monday, 8 July 2019, at the Training Hall, Level 2, OCM Indoor Sports Complex, Kuala Lumpur. The theme of the Seminar was “Empowering Women Leadership in Sport”.

The Opening Ceremony of the Seminar was officiated by Dr. Waitchalla R.R.V. Suppiah, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia.

The Closing Ceremony was officiated by Dato’ Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of OCM.

Three (3) sporting personnel namely Dato’ Sieh Kok Chi, Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar and Mdm. Rusni Abu Hassan were invited as Panel Members for the first plenary session on “Empowering Women Leadership in Sport”. The moderator of the session was Associate Professor Dr. Selina Khoo of University of Malaya.

For the second Plenary Session on “OCM Whistleblowing Policy”, two (2) sporting personnel namely Mr. Huang Ying How and Ms. Sarina Sundara Rajah were invited as Panel Members. The moderator of that session was Mdm. Maheshswari Kanniah, Group Chief Regulatory and Compliance Officer of Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad.

The Seminar was attended by over 80 delegates (90% are female) from 29 National Sports Associations (NSAs) affiliated to OCM, States Sports Associations (SSAs), National Sports Council (NSC), States Sports Council (SSC), Malaysian Universities Sports Council (MASUM), BERNAMA, Astro Arena, clubs etc.

A number of OCM Executive Board Members were present to support the Seminar. They are Dato’ Seri Azim Zabidi (Deputy President), Tan Sri Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahim (Vice President), Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin (Secretary General), Ms. Moira Tan Siew See (Assistant Secretary General) and Mr. Chan Foong Keong (Assistant Secretary General).

The OCM Women & Sport Committee would like to thank all participants for their suggestions and contributions in the effort to empower women leadership in sport. The Committee will table the Resolutions of the Seminar for further actions.
