27th National Olympic Academy Session for Young Olympic Ambassadors – Day 2



The second day of the 27th National Olympic Academy Session for Young Olympic Ambassadors continued with great momentum on Wednesday, 6th May 2026, at the Sunway Lagoon Hotel, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.

The morning session, titled “The Mindset of an Olympian”, was delivered by Mr. Josiah Onn Lam NG OLY, a three-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist in Track Cycling.

In his deeply personal and engaging presentation, Mr. Josiah Onn Lam NG OLY shared his journey from “eight years of failure” and experiencing homelessness at the age of 18, to becoming world number one. He emphasised that “failure was not my enemy; it was my teacher” and encouraged the Young Olympic Ambassadors to embrace the core pillars of the Olympian mindset: Discipline, Resilience, Pressure Management and Consistency.

Following the session, Ms. Moira Siew See TAN, Assistant Secretary General of NOC Malaysia and Chair of the Education and Training Committee, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Josiah Onn Lam NG OLY.

The session also saw Mr. Wan Hor FONG, Chief Executive Officer of NOC Malaysia, take the floor to present special gifts to several outstanding Young Olympic Ambassadors in recognition of their performance during the activities held on Tuesday, 5th May 2026. Mr. Sung Wen TAY (NOC Singapore) was recognised for his sporting spirit during the corporate visit to MILO Malaysia. Recognition was also given to the first three Young Olympic Ambassadors to conquer the 272 steps of Batu Caves, namely Mr. Ibrahim RIZAAN (NOC Maldives), Mr. Tri Thinh HUYNH (NOC Vietnam) and Ms. Victoria Jia Yi NG (Malaysia DanceSport Federation).

In the afternoon, the Young Olympic Ambassadors embarked on an educational visit to the National Sports Institute (NSI) in Bukit Jalil. The delegation was warmly received by Ms. Nuganeswary RAMACHANDRAN (International Desk for Corporate Services), Mdm. Asnidar Nor ABDUL RAHIM (Media and Public Relations Desk for Corporate Communications) and Mr. Muhamad Syafiq WARRMAL (Executive Officer for Corporate Communications).

The Young Olympic Ambassadors were given an exclusive tour of NSI’s high-performance facilities, including the National Sports Medicine Centre, Physiotherapy Unit, Human Movement Laboratory and the Environmental and Altitude Chamber. They also visited the Hydrotherapy and Whole-Body Cryotherapy Laboratory, the Jungle Gym and the High Performance Recovery Centre. To conclude the visit, Ms. Moira Siew See TAN presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr. Wee Kian YEO, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NSI.

The day concluded with a visit to the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. After a commemorative group photograph against the backdrop of the world’s tallest twin towers, the Young Olympic Ambassadors enjoyed free time exploring the Suria KLCC, a 6-story shopping mall located at the foot of the PETRONAS Twin Towers.

It was another enriching day of learning, inspiration and regional camaraderie as these young leaders continued their journey within the Olympic Movement.
