PRESS STATEMENT – Election of Office Bearers of The OCM for The Term 2025-2029



As stipulated in Article 14.5 of the OCM Constitution, all office bearers shall hold office for four (4) years and upon expiry of their term, may seek re-election.

The office bearers for the current term of 2021-2025 will serve their mandate until Saturday, 19th April 2025, when OCM will host its 44th Annual General Assembly and the election of office bearers for the term 2025-2029.

12 positions of the Office Bearers of OCM will be open for election:

a. One (1) President
b. One (1) Deputy President
c. Five (5) Vice Presidents (5 positions, at least 1 of whom shall be of a different gender)
d. One (1) Secretary General
e. Two (2) Assistant Secretaries General (whom shall be of different gender)
f. One (1) Treasurer
g. One (1) Assistant Treasurer

In accordance with Article 18 of the OCM Constitution, the OCM Executive Board Meeting No. 19 (2021-2025) held on Wednesday, 22nd January 2025, approved the appointment of an Independent Panel, comprising the following three (3) members to supervise, manage and conduct the election process:

1. Y.A. Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril – Court of Appeal Judge
2. Y.A. Dato’ Anand Ponnudurai – High Court Judge
3. Datuk Harjit Singh Sidhu – License Tax Agent with the Ministry of Finance

The appointment of the Independent Panel was subsequently endorsed at the 212th OCM Executive Council Meeting held on Saturday, 1st March 2025.

Pursuant to the provisions of Article 18 of the OCM Constitution, the Independent Panel, chaired by Y.A. Datuk Seri Mohd Firuz Jaffril as Returning Officer, issued the Official Nomination Form, Official Acceptance Form, Official Registration Form 1 (for Ordinary Members) and Official Registration Form 2 (for Associate Members) twenty-one (21) days prior to the 44th Annual General Assembly, at which the election of office bearers will be held, on Friday, 28th March 2025.

All Ordinary Members and Associate Members were required to collect and submit the original forms using the envelopes provided by the Independent Panel.

In accordance with Article 18 of the OCM Constitution, the Official Nomination Form, together with the Official Acceptance Form, must be submitted to the attention of the Independent Panel no later than ten (10) days prior to the 44th Annual General Assembly, by Wednesday, 9th April 2025.

By 5.00 pm on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, all thirty four (34) Ordinary Members of OCM had exercised their right to participate in the election process by submitting their respective nominations. All Official Nomination Forms and Official Acceptance Forms were submitted in the sealed envelopes provided by the Independent Panel.

A total of sixteen (16) individuals have been nominated and have accepted their nominations to contest the twelve available positions as follows:

For the position of President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the incumbent, is the sole candidate nominated. He was nominated by fourteen (14) Ordinary Members of OCM, namely Archery, Athletics, Body Building, Equestrian, Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Lawn Tennis, Netball, Rugby, Sailing, Silat, Tenpin Bowling and Volleyball.

For the position of Deputy President, two (2) candidates were nominated. They are Datuk Wira Nur Azmi Ahmad, who was noted by Football and Karate and Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz, who was nominated by Lawn Bowls.

For the position of Vice Presidents, seven (7) candidates were nominated. They include two (2) incumbents, Dato’ Paduka Mumtaz Jaffar, nominated by Hockey and Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, nominated by Basketball, Shooting, Softball, Table Tennis and Wushu. The other five (5) candidates are Mdm. Nurul Huda Abdullah nominated by Aquatics, Datuk Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli nominated by Boxing, Dato’ Mohd Sumali Reduan nominated by Sepaktakraw, Mr. Monteiro Gerard Clair nominated by Squash and Y.B. Azizul Annuar Adenan nominated by Taekwondo.

For the position of Secretary General, Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali, the current Assistant Treasurer, is the sole candidate nominated. He was nominated by Weightlifting.

For the position of Treasurer, Dato’ Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin, the incumbent, is the sole candidate nominated. He was nominated by Cricket.

For the position of Assistant Secretary General (Female), Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, the incumbent, is the sole candidate nominated. She was nominated by Fencing.

For the position of Assistant Secretary General (Male), two (2) candidates were nominated. They are Mr. Ahmad Arif Astaman, who was nominated by Cycling and Mr. Melvin Chia See Oon, who was nominated by Snooker and Billiards.

For the position of Assistant Treasurer, Datuk Subramaniam Veruthasalam is the sole candidate nominated. He was nominated by Badminton.

The Independent Panel conducted integrity screenings on all sixteen (16) candidates through the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) and the Malaysian Department of Insolvency (MdI) on Wednesday, 9th April 2025 and Thursday, 10th April 2025.

No records of corruption, criminal offences or bankruptcy were found for any of the sixteen (16) candidates. All of them are therefore eligible to stand for election as valid candidates.

Therefore, an election by secret ballot will be conducted for three (3) positions: Deputy President, Vice Presidents and Assistant Secretary General (Male) on Saturday, 19th April 2025. The result of election of the office bearers of OCM for the term 2025-2029 will be officially announced on the same day, Saturday, 19th April 2025.

All thirty four (34) Ordinary Members and twenty four (24) Associate Members are required to submit their respective Official Registration Forms no later than five (5) days prior to the 44th Annual General Assembly, by Monday, 14th April 2025.

The Independent Panel would like to remind each Ordinary Member to register three (3) delegates and two (2) alternate delegates before the stated deadline to ensure their eligibility to attend the 44th Annual General Assembly as voting delegates. If no written confirmation is received at least twenty four (24) hours before the commencement of the 44th Annual General Assembly, the three (3) originally listed delegates shall be deemed the official voting delegates. Official Registration Forms received after the deadline will not be accepted.
