Dr. Norza ZAKARIA receives Courtesy Call from the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF)



Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, President of NOC Malaysia, who also serves as President of the South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for Southeast Asia Zone, received the courtesy call from a delegation of the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) on Thursday, 21st May 2026, at 10.00 am, at the office of NOC Malaysia.

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA was accompanied by Mr. Mohd Nasli ALI, Secretary General of NOC Malaysia, Mr. Abdul Rashid YAAKUB, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia SEA Games Organizing Committee (MASOC) and Mr. Mohd Yuzaidi USOP, Director of the Sports and Technical Division of MASOC.

The ISTAF delegation was headed by its Secretary General, Mr. Abdul Halim ABDUL KADER, who also serves as President of the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (ASTAF) and Deputy President of the Asian Chinlone Federation (ACF).

Other members of the ISTAF delegation included Mr. Muhammad Fariq ABDUL HALIM (Deputy President of ISTAF and Deputy Secretary General of ASTAF), Mr. Muhammad Taufiq ABDUL HALIM (Deputy Secretary General of ISTAF and Chairperson of Technical Committee of ISTAF), Mr. Ye Wint Htut Tin (President of Myanmar Sepaktakraw Federation and President of Myanmar Chinlone Federation), Mr. Kyaw Swar Soe (Deputy President of Myanmar Chinlone Federation), Mr. Wan Mohd Husni ABDULLAH (Vice President 3 of Malaysian Sepaktakraw Federation).

The discussion focused on collaboration between the NOC Malaysia, SEAGF and ISTAF in promoting the development of Sepaktakraw and Chinlone throughout the Southeast Asian region.

“On behalf of ISTAF, I pledge our full support towards the development of Sepaktakraw in Malaysia” said Mr. Abdul Halim ABDUL KADER.

“ISTAF has also committed to sponsoring all equipment required for the Sepaktakraw competitions in the upcoming 34th SEA Games Malaysia 2027, amounting to more than RM 1 million” he added.

Meanwhile, in his capacity as Deputy President of the Asian Chinlone Federation (ACF), Mr. Abdul Halim ABDUL KADER, together with the Myanmar Chinlone Federation, also sought collaboration to promote the development of Chinlone, a traditional sport and performance art originating from Myanmar that combines elements of sport, dance and teamwork.

“As Vice President of the OCA for the Southeast Asia Zone, President of SEAGF for the term 2025-2027 and President of NOC Malaysia, I would like to express our highest appreciation to ISTAF and ASTAF for their continued support towards the development of Sepaktakraw across the Southeast Asia Region, especially in Malaysia” stated Dr. Norza ZAKARIA.

“We look forward to further collaboration in elevating both Sepaktakraw and Chinlone to greater heights” added Dr. Norza ZAKARIA.
