The OCM officially kick-started the operations for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 with the organisation of the first Team Managers Meeting on Tuesday, 25th July 2023 at the Training Hall, Level 2C, OCM Indoor Sports Complex, Kuala Lumpur.
The Meeting was chaired by Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, who is also one of the Vice Presidents of OCM.
Present at the Meeting were the Team Managers and representatives from 19 National Sports Associations affiliated to OCM namely Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Canoe, Equestrian, Gymnastics, Hockey, Kabaddi, Karate, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Sepaktakraw, Shooting, Swimming, Taekwondo and Wushu. There were also 2 representatives from non-affiliates of OCM namely E-Sport and Weiqi.
Besides the Team Managers of various sports, also in attendance were officials from various organizations, including the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), the National Sports Council (NSC), the National Sports Institute (NSI) and the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (ADAMAS).
The proceedings commenced with an opening speech by Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, followed by 4 briefings from Mr. Fong Wan Hor and Mr. Norhashimi Hussain (the 2 General Managers of OCM), Mr. Jefri Ngadirin (the Director of Athlete Division of NSC), Dr. Azril Syazwan Mohd Ali (the Director of Sports Medicine Division of NSI) and Mrs. Azura Abidin (the Director of ADAMAS).
In addition, the OCM also extended an invitation to the TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, who was represented by its Assistant Manager of Customer Experience and Services, Mr. Eddy Azzahar Razak, to brief on the facilities and services of the Touch’nGO e-wallet and the cross border payment method via Alipay+.
“Today, 25th July 2023, marked exactly 60 days prior to the Opening Ceremony of the 19th Asian Games”,
“Time is running short, minus all the weekends and public holidays, we have about 40 days to prepare for our outing to the Hangzhou Asian Games”,
“Let’s work together, hand-in-hand, to make sure everything is in order” quoted Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt during the Team Managers Meeting.
In the press conference after the Meeting, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt announced that the OCM Selection Committee has selected a total of 293 athletes (192 males & 101 females; A Category: 117 & B Category: 176) and 103 team officials (91 males & 12 females; A Category: 54 & B Category: 49), to participate in 23 out of 40 sports to be competed in the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
