19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 – Chef de Mission Visit (6th August 2023)



Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, performed his Chef de Mission Visit on Sunday, 6th August 2023, by visiting the Martial Arts – Jujittsu Team at the Hikari MMA Gym in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

The Martial Arts – Jujitsu Team of 3 persons consisting of a coach and 2 Jiu-Jitsuka namely Dr. Tee Lip Jin (Men’ -85kg event) and Ms. Cassandra J. Poyong (Women’s -57kg event). Both of them are being trained by Prof. Bruno Barbosa, a renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and 4th Degree Black Belt, who had a track record of producing 2 Women’s World Champions.

Dr. Tee Lip Jin, 35 years old, a scholar with a PhD in Physics and Psychology from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, is currently a Regional Consultant at the Genting TauRx Diagnostics and Assistant Manager at the Genting Berhad, has been actively practising Jui-Jitsu since 2008. He won several gold medals in various Jiu-Jitsu Championships held in the United Kingdom in 2018 and 2019. One of his best achievements was winning a silver medal at the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Championship Munich International Open 2019. This year, he was ranked 9th in the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) 7th Asian Championship held from 24th February to 1st March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. He will continue the training programme by Prof. Bruno Barbosa for his preparation to the 19th Asian Games.

Ms. Cassandra J. Poyong, 34 years old, a lawyer by profession then turn professional Jiu-Jitsuka and coach, has been actively practising Jiu-Jitsu since 2015. She has shown remarkable achievements internationally since 2019. She won her first international title when she bagged the gold medal at the Abu Dhabi World Masters Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2019. In the same year, she has been selected to participate in the 30th SEA Games Philippines 2019, where she had contributed a silver medal for the Malaysian Contingent. In 2020, she won a bronze medal in the IBJJF Championship European Open held in Portugal. In 2022, she won a gold medal in the IBJJF Championship World Masters held in Las Vegas, USA. This year, she has won a silver medal at the IBJJF Championship European Open and a bronze medal at the JJAU 7th Asian Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand. Cassandra will be undergoing a 5-week training camp in one the renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Training Centres in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 20th August till end of September 2023 prior to her departure to the Hangzhou Asian Games.
