A delegation from the OCM paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, at the Chinese Embassy, on Friday, 1st September 2023.
The OCM delegation consisted of the following personnel:
1. Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt (Vice President)
2. Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin (Secretary General)
3. Mr. Fong Wan Hor (General Manager)
4. Mr. Norhashimi Hussain (General Manager)
5. Mr. Chew Ah Chin (Senior Manager Finance)
6. Mr. Muhammad Rizal Hashim (Media Consultant)
They were warmly welcomed by H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ouyang Yujing and four officers from the Chinese Embassy, namely Mr. Zhang Zhen, the Cultural Counsellor, Mdm. Wang Jie, the First Secretary in charge of visa affairs, Ms. Wu Xiaoping, the First Secretary in charge of political affairs and Ms. Liu Yuanjie, the Attaché in charge of Cultural Affairs.
Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, who also serves as the Chef de Mission to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, took the opportunity to update H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ouyang Yujing on the movements and the preparations of the Malaysian Contingent to the Games.
He informed that due to a few withdrawals, the Malaysian Contingent, to date, comprises 434 members, including 289 athletes (189 males & 100 females) and 145 team officials (120 males & 25 females). They will be participating in 22 out of 40 sports and 141 out of 483 events.
Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt also shared that the Flag Handing Ceremony for the Malaysian Contingent to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will be officiated by the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Monday, 11th September 2023.
“On behalf of our President, Tan Sri Dr. Norza Zakaria, we thanked H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ouyang Yujing for his unwavering support towards the Olympic Movement in Malaysia” said Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt.
“The 19th Asian Games will be the third Asian Games hosted by the Government of China, following the successful 11th Asian Games Beijing 1990 and the 16th Asian Games Guangzhou 2010” he added.
Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt praised the Government of China for its commendable contributions towards the Olympic Movement in Asia, which have also fostered peace, stability and solidarity among the people across the continent.
In his welcome address, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ouyang Yujing hailed the Malaysian Contingent’s participation in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, this month.
“Sport is an integral component of cultural exchange, contributing to the enhancement of diplomatic relationships between nations” said Ambassador Mr. Ouyang Yujing.
“I always emphasize the strong relationship between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei 李宗伟, which showcases the cooperation and friendship between China and Malaysia” he stated.
“On behalf of the Government of China, we will extend any form of assistance to ensure the successful participation of the Malaysian Contingent in the Hangzhou Asian Games” Ambassador Mr. Ouyang Yujing added.
