Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the President of the OCM, who arrived in Hangzhou on the evening of Friday, 22nd September 2023, commenced his duties the following day.
Tan Sri Dr. Norza initiated his official programme by visiting the athletes of the Malaysian Contingent at the Athletes Village. He received a warm welcome from the Chef de Mission, Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, the Deputy Chef de Mission, Datuk Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli and members of the Secretariat upon his arrival at 9.45 am.
Tan Sri Dr. Norza met the Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams in the Dining Hall, where he motivated all the players to give the best of their abilities in pursuing their dreams of qualifying for the Paris Olympics.
“All of you must demonstrate the highest sporting spirit”,
“Fight until the end of your competitions and never fear of your opponents” emphasized Tan Sri Dr. Norza while motivating the Hockey Teams.
Additionally, Tan Sri Dr. Norza engaged in a chat with the Weiqi (Go) Team.
At 11.00 am, Tan Sri Dr. Norza was invited for an exclusive Interview with CGTN, the Host Broadcaster of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, at International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) within the Main Media Centre (MMC). During the interview, he provided an overview of the Malaysian Contingent and shared his expectation on Hangzhou Asian Games. He was also impressed by the capability of the Government of the People’s Republic of China as well as the People’s Government of the Zhejiang Province, in hosting the largest ever Multi-Sport Games in Asia.
In the evening, Tan Sri Dr. Norza was among the dignitaries present at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium or well-known as the “Big Lotus” to witness the spectacular Opening Ceremony of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.
