43rd OCA General Assembly



The 43rd OCA General Assembly was held on Saturday, 11th May 2024, at the InterContinental Bangkok, Thailand.

The said General Assembly commenced with a welcome address by the Acting President of OCA, H.E. Raja Randhir Singh OLY. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, was given the honour to address the General Assembly on behalf of the Thai Government. The President of IOC, Mr. Thomas Bach, also addressed the General Assembly via video recording.

The OCM was officially represented by 3 delegates as follows:

1. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria (President)
2. Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt (Vice President)
3. Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin (Secretary General)

Mr. Fong Wan Hor, the General Manager of OCM, was also present at the General Assembly as an observer.

Prior to the proceedings of the General Assembly, three (3) awards were presented as follows:

1. The 𝗢𝗖𝗔 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗧 to Mr. Oybek Kasimov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, for his contribution in promoting the Olympic Movement in Asia.

2. The 𝗢𝗖𝗔 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗘𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 to Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) for their initiatives in organising the greenest ever Asian Games in history.

3. The 𝗜𝗢𝗖 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬, 𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 to Ms. Jayanthi Kuru Utumpala of Sri Lanka for her contributions in promoting the participation of women and girls in sports in Asia.

In additional to the normal proceedings and reports delivered by the Acting President of OCA, Vice Presidents of OCA and Chairpersons of the Standing Committees of OCA, the highlight of the said General Assembly was the unanimous approval and adoption of the new Constitution of OCA by all the 45 Member NOCs of OCA.

Four (4) Asian Games Organising Committees (AGOC) were invited to present their respective progress reports:

1. 3rd Asian Youth Games Tashkent 2025
2. 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Bangkok-Chonburi 2021
3. 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025
4. 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026

“On behalf of NOC Malaysia, we would like to convey our unwavering support to the OCA, under the capable leadership of H.E. Raja Randhir Singh, for the constitutional reform of the Olympic Movement in Asia”,

“Unity and solidarity constitute the backbone of the Olympic Movement in Asia” quoted Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.

“I would also like to congratulate Datuk Awalan Abdul Aziz, President of the Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation (MLBF) and the Asian Lawn Bowls Federation (ALBF), for the provisional recognition of ALBF as one of the Asian Sports Federations by the OCA” he added.
