The Malaysian Contingent continued their campaign on the fourth day of the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 on Sunday, 26th April 2026, showcasing grit and sportsmanship in Open Water Swimming, 3×3 Basketball, Sailing, Beach Volleyball and Teqball.
In the Open Water Swimming Men’s 5km final at Sanya Bay, Mr. Aslan Adnan delivered a commendable performance, finishing 17th out of 28 competitors with a time of 1:00:12.8. His teammate, Mr. Bryston Lee Khai Cheng, also completed the grueling course but was classified as Over Time Limit (OTL).
Over at the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium, the 3×3 Basketball courts were a site of Malaysian dominance. The Men’s Team enjoyed a perfect run in their Group B matches, first defeating Sri Lanka 21-12 before overcoming Mongolia 19-12. The Women’s Team mirrored this success with an impressive 21-12 victory over Mongolia in Group B, strengthening their position in the team event.
The Sailing competition at Haihong Square saw the Malaysian sailors maintaining their consistency as the series progressed. In the Girl’s ILCA4, Ms. Nur Hafizanah Zailan climbed to 5th overall after seven races, while Ms. Sara Amanda Mohd Noor Azman holds the 9th spot. In the Boy’s ILCA4, Mr. Muhammad Hilfi Nafael Mohd Hasrizan and Mr. Muhammad Aiman Aqeel Mohd Firdaus sit in 8th and 9th positions respectively after seven races. Meanwhile, in the Optimist classes, Ms. Lydia Hannah Jasmine Lukman is currently 6th overall in the Girl’s event after seven races, followed closely by Ms. Mia Azrania Mohd Azrald in 7th. Mr. Muhammad Yaasin Syahrizan leads the Malaysian boys in 8th place overall, while Mr. Khairul Ilzani Mohd Afendy sits in 11th. In Foil Windsurfing, Ms. Marcella Wilson Villaceran is currently 9th in the Girl’s event after nine races. In the Boy’s series, Mr. Muhammad Hafizin Manor is 9th overall after nine races, while Mr Muhammad Yusri Syahrizan is 11th.
In Beach Volleyball, the Women’s Team of Ms. Rachael Goh Yu Jie and Ms. Sin Sing Yee saw their journey come to an end in the Round of 16. Facing a formidable Japanese duo, Ms. Non Matsumoto and Ms. Ren Matsumoto at Tianya Haijiao, the Malaysians fought hard but ultimately conceded the match 2-0 with scores of 21-7 and 21-14.
In Teqball, the Malaysian Men’s Doubles team of Mr. Muhammad Rahmat Tiarareza Abdullah and Mr. Muhammad Amirul Danish Mohd Amirul Firdaus faced stiff competition in Group B at Sanya Bay Yuhai. In their first match against powerhouse China, the Malaysians lost 2-0 with scores of 12-11 and 12-5, before succumbing 2-0 to Vietnam with scores of 12-1 and12-10.
The Malaysian Contingent remains resilient as the athletes gear up for the coming days.
