6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 Daily Highlight – 25th April 2026



On Saturday, 25th April 2026, the Malaysian Contingent entered the third day of the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 with renewed determination, competing across a wide array of disciplines including Beach Volleyball, Sailing, Open Water Swimming and Aquathlon.

At the Tianya Haijiao venue, the Beach Volleyball courts saw contrasting results for the Malaysian Contingent. The Men’s Team of Mr. Muhammad Isma Haziq Ismail and Mr. Tan Yong Jen delivered a stellar performance in their final Preliminary Pool F tie, defeating South Korea Korea 2-0 with scores of 22-20 and 22-20. Despite the win, the Malaysians did not advance to the knockout stages as they finished third in Pool F.

In the Women’s Team event, Ms. Rachael Goh Yu Jie and Ms. Sin Sing Yee faced a tough challenge in their final Pool E match against a clinical Japan side, Ms. Sakura Ito and Ms. Miki Ishii OLY, eventually conceding the match 2-0 with scores of 21-7 and 21-5. However, Ms. Rachael Goh Yu Jie and Ms. Sin Sing Yee have already secured a top 16 spot by finishing second in Pool E. They will face another Japanese duo, Ms. Ren Matsumoto and Ms. Non Matsumoto in the knockout stage on Sunday, 26th April 2026.

The Sailing competition at Haihong Square remained a major focal point as the series progressed through critical races. In the Boy’s ILCA4, Mr. Muhammad Hilfi Nafael Mohd Hasrizan showcased resilience to hold 9th position overall after five races. His teammate, Mr. Muhammad Aiman Aqeel Mohd Firdaus, secured a brilliant 2nd place in Race 4, though he currently sits 12th overall following a challenging series of races. The Girl’s ILCA4 category provided a significant highlight as Ms. Sara Amanda Mohd Noor Azman surged to 4th place overall following a spectacular 1st place finish in Race 5. She was well-supported by Ms. Nur Hafizanah Zailan, who also tasted victory with a 1st place finish in Race 4, placing her 8th in the current standings.

The Optimist and Foil Windsurfing specialists also continued their steady pursuit of the leaders. In the Girl’s Optimist event, Ms. Lydia Hannah Jasmine Lukman maintained her consistency to sit 5th overall, while Ms. Mia Azrania Mohd Azrald follows in 7th. For the boys, Mr. Muhammad Yaasin Syahrizan moved up to 6th overall following a strong 2nd place finish in Race 4, with Mr. Khairul Ilzani Mohd Afendy currently holding the 12th spot.

In Windsurfing, Ms. Marcella Wilson Villaceran recorded a solid 3rd place in Race 4 of the Girl’s series to rank 7th overall, while Mr. Muhammad Hafizin Mansor and Mr. Muhammad Yusri Syahrizan continue to battle in the Boy’s series in 9th and 11th place respectively.

The endurance events saw Malaysian athletes testing their limits at Sanya Bay. In the Open Water Swimming Women’s 5km Final, Ms. Magdalene Lau Ing Siew completed the grueling course, but in an Over Time Limit (OTL) of 1:13:35.6. She touched the wall right after Uzbekistan’s Ms. Anastasiya Zelinskaya, who finished the race in 13th place.

Meanwhile, the Aquathlon 4x Mixed Relay team consisting of Mr. Isaac Tan Zhen Wei, Mr. Benjamin Jonh Chen Hong Ren, Ms. Cindy Sui Yea Zhen and Ms. Esther Joy Chen Hong Li fought hard at the Sanya Bay Photography Base to secure a 7th place finish with a time of 1:07:48.

The Malaysian Contingent remains focused and prepared, carrying the national spirit forward as they head into the next stage of the competition.
