ISSA Awards The 7th Islamic Solidarity Games 2029 to NOC Malaysia and The State of Selangor



The NOC Malaysia, in collaboration with the State Government of Selangor, initiated the bidding process to host the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029 in the State of Selangor.

The bid submitted by NOC Malaysia and the State Government of Selangor, with the full support of the Federal Government of Malaysia, reflects the strong and united commitment of the nation towards the values and objectives upheld by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA) under the distinguished leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz Bin TURKI AL-FAISAL.

The Expression of Interest to host the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029 was submitted to ISSA on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, followed by the submission of the Official Bid Proposal on Monday, 29th September 2025.

On Thursday, 9th October 2025, ISSA issued a press release announcing that 3 NOCs, namely the Islamic Republic of Iran, Malaysia and Uzbekistan, had officially submitted their bids to host the 2029 edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games.

Following this announcement, NOC Malaysia, together with the State Government of Selangor, welcomed a 10-member ISSA delegation led by Mr. Nasser AL-MAJALI, Secretary General of ISSA, for an inspection visit held from Sunday, 12th October 2025 to Tuesday, 14th October 2025.

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, President of NOC Malaysia and Vice President of OCA for the Southeast Asia Zone, together with the Honourable Mohd Najwan HALIMI, Chairperson of the Executive Committee for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship of the State Government of Selangor, jointly presented the final proposal at the 14th ISSA General Assembly, held on Saturday, 8th November 2025, at the Riyadh Grand Ballroom A, Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residences.

“We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the ISSA, in particular to the ISSA Games Commission, under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. Mohammad Tayyab IKRAM, for shortlisting Malaysia as one of the potential hosts of the 2029 Islamic Solidarity Games” stated Dr. Norza ZAKARIA.

“The bid by the NOC Malaysia and the State Government of Selangor is fully supported by the Federal Government of Malaysia, reflecting a strong spirit of unity and shared vision in promoting sports development within the Islamic world”.

“Selangor, located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, is the country’s most developed and populous state, serving as the economic, industrial and technological powerhouse of the nation. It is home to modern infrastructure, world-class sporting facilities and a vibrant multicultural society that embodies Malaysia’s diversity and dynamism”.

“The Chief Minister of Selangor, The Right Honourable Amiruddin SHARI, who previously held the portfolio for Youth and Sports, has consistently emphasized the importance of youth and sports development as a key pillar in his vision of transforming Selangor into a fully developed state, one where people enjoy good health, strong community spirit and an enduring sporting culture” he concluded.

The ISSA subsequently announced the official award of the hosting rights for the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029 to the NOC Malaysia and the State of Selangor.
