KUALA LUMPUR (6th June 2024): The 50 days countdown to the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024 was celebrated in style when the OCM launched a video to introduce the 18 athletes who have secured their tickets to the sporting extravaganza from 26th July to 11th August 2024.
In the 180-second video, the footage of 18 exceptional athletes from 7 sports were converted into graphic animation via a sketchy hand-drawn styling with aftereffects, giving it a touch of class reserved for the privileged. The video ends with OCM President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr) Mohamad Norza Zakaria delivering a short message.
The 18 athletes featured were as follows:
a. Bertrand Rhodict Lises (Aquatics-Diving)
b. Ariana Nur Dania Mohd Zairi (Archery)
c. 8 Shuttlers (Lee Zii Jia OLY, Goh Jin Wei, Aaron Chia Teng Fong OLY-Soh Wooi Yik OLY, Pearly Tan Kong Le-Thinaah Muralitharan, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei)
d. 4 Cyclists (4 from Track Cycling: Dato’ Mohd Azizulhasni Awang OLY, Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom OLY and Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri and 1 from Road Cycling: Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir)
e. Muhammad Aniq Kasdan (Weightlifting)
f. Khairulnizam Mohd Affendy OLY and Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif OLY (Sailing)
g. Johnathan Wong Guanjie OLY (Shooting)
The video is scheduled to be shown on various television channels on top of OCM’s social media platforms.
The video was made public during the 50 days Countdown celebration held at Merana TRX on Thursday, 6th June 2024, after the opening speech by the President of OCM, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
The OCM also launched the 2024 Olympic Day Celebration which will be held on a grand scale at 2 different locations: in Tanjung Malim through a collaboration between OCM and Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) and the other at Menara TRX through a private sector initiative by My Creative Moments.
At UPSI, an Olympic Day Run is scheduled to be held with 5,000 participants, followed by the launch of a special academic award contributed by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, launch of the OCM Athletes’ Education Fund and Signing of MOU between OCM and UPSI in the morning on Sunday, 23rd June 2024.
The event at Menara TRX will feature a variety of mini games designed to encourage participation from the members of the public such as Air Badminton, Basketball 3-on-3 and Mini Football.
Also in attendance were Executive Board Members of OCM and three Olympians, Dato’ Mirnawan Nawawi OLY (Hockey), Ng Shu Wai OLY (Gymnastics – Artistic) and Cheong Jun Hoong OLY (Aquatics – Diving).
