The Malaysia Sport Aviation Federation (MSAF), with the support of the Selangor State Government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, hosted the inaugural Asian Sports Aviation Summit in conjunction with the General Conference of the Airsport Federation of Asia (AFA), from 7th to 9th September 2023, at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre, Subang Airport.
The primary objective of the Asian Sports Aviation Summit 2023 was to support the proposal of the AFA, the governing body of Sports Aviation in Asia recognised by the OCA, to create the “Asian Air Games” under the flagship of OCA.
The Summit drew participation from Sports Aviation enthusiasts and industry representatives from 15 Asian countries and Australia. Furthermore, more than 20 sports aircrafts were flown in from neighbouring countries to take part in the sports aircrafts exhibition.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of OCM, was given the great honour to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the inaugural Asian Sports Aviation Summit on behalf of the OCA, on Friday, 8th September 2023.
“I believe that the Asian Sports Aviation Summit has provided an excellent platform for visionaries, pioneers and enthusiasts in sports Aviation from across the Asian Continent to share knowledge and experiences for the promotion and development of the sport”,
He went on to convey his best wishes to the Airsport Federation of Asia, led by Group Captain Veerayuth Didyasarin from Thailand, in their endeavor to advocate for the creation of the Asian Air Games.
“The proposal of the Airsport Federation of Asia to introduce the Asian Air Games has the potential to further enrich the Olympic Movement in Asia”,
“The OCM is fully committed to supporting the directives of the OCA aimed at elevating the Olympic Movement to even greater heights” Tan Sri Dr. Norza affirmed.
