Dr. Norza Zakaria Granted a Special Audience with H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of The Republic of Uzbekistan, During The 46th OCA General Assembly

The OCA convened its 46th General Assembly on Monday, 26th January 2026, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The 46th OCA General Assembly was officiated by The Honorable Mr. Timothy FOK, Acting President of OCA and was followed by a video message from Her Excellency Mrs. Kirsty COVENTRY OLY, President of IOC.

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA attended the 46th OCA General Assembly in his capacity as Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone, while the NOC Malaysia was officially represented by its Deputy President, Dr. Nur Azmi AHMAD and its Secretary General, Mr. Mohd Nasir ALI.

During the General Assembly, Dr. Norza ZAKARIA presented his written report, which covered NOC governance, analytical insights into participation in the 3rd Asian Youth Games, OCA programmes, the 2025 Olympic Day celebrations and the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games involving all 11 Southeast Asian NOCs, for the period from 13th May 2025 to 26th January 2026. The report was duly accepted and approved by the 46th OCA General Assembly.

In addition to the regular proceedings, the highlight of the General Assembly was the official election of His Highness Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad AL-THANI, President of NOC Qatar, as the new President of OCA.

The General Assembly concluded with an official address by His Excellency Shavkat MIRZIYOYEV, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and President of NOC Uzbekistan, followed by the presentation of the Order of Honour of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan to His Highness Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad AL-THANI by His Excellency Shavkat MIRZIYOYEV, in recognition of his dedication, vision and contributions to advancing the Olympic Movement across Asia.

Subsequently, His Excellency Shavkat MIRZIYOYEV granted special audiences to OCA office bearers, including Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, IOC Members and representatives from the International Federations (IFs) and Asian Federations (AFs).

“On behalf of all Southeast Asian NOCs, we would like to congratulate His Excellency Shavkat MIRZIYOYEV and NOC Uzbekistan on the successful organisation of the 46th OCA General Assembly in Tashkent” stated Dr. Norza ZAKARIA.

“During the special audience with His Excellency Shavkat MIRZIYOYEV, he conveyed his warmest regards to the people of Malaysia, especially our beloved Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Anwar Ibrahim”.

“We would also like to congratulate His Highness Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad AL-THANI on his successful election as the new President of OCA, with a full mandate from all NOCs across Asia”.

“We look forward to supporting his leadership in further strengthening and advancing the Olympic Movement across the Asian continent” he concluded.
