The Badminton World Federation (BWF) successfully convened its 86th elective Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 26th April 2025, in Xiamen, China.
A significant highlight of the said Annual General Meeting was the election of BWF office bearers for the term 2025-2029. It was officially announced that H.E. Khunying Patama LEESWADTRAKUL, an IOC Member and President of the Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT), was elected unopposed as the new President of the BWF.
The NOC Malaysia is proud to announce that Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone and recently re-elected unopposed as President of NOC Malaysia for a third consecutive term on Saturday, 19th April 2025, was among 20 distinguished individuals elected to the BWF Council. His election is in accordance with the continental and gender quotas stipulated in the BWF Constitution.

“In September 2024, following his unopposed election as Vice President of the OCA for the Southeast Asia Zone, Dr. Norza ZAKARIA spearheaded the establishment of the Asian High Performance Badminton Centre, a collaboration between the OCA, NOC Malaysia, and BAM, aims to support the growth of Badminton across Asia by providing world-class training facilities in Malaysia, particularly benefiting developing NOCs within the region”,
