The OCM extends its heartiest congratulations to Datuk Wira Dr. Nur Azmi Ahmad, Deputy President of OCM, on being conferred the Professional Doctorate in Sports Management by the European International University (EIU). This distinguished academic recognition is a testament to his unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to the advancement of sports in Malaysia.
A former national Hockey player, Datuk Wira Dr. Nur Azmi Ahmad has played a significant role in the development and promotion of Hockey at various levels. He has held numerous key positions within the Hockey fraternity, both nationally and continentally. These include serving as Deputy President (2010-2015) of the Melaka Hockey Association, Vice President (2001-2007) and Deputy President (2010-2015) of the Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF), now known as the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC), as well as Committee Member (2010-2015) of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF).
His involvement in Karate began in 2015, when he was elected as a Committee Member of the Malaysia Karate Federation (MAKAF). In 2019, he was entrusted with the role of Secretary General and in 2023, he was elected as the President of MAKAF. At the continental level, he has also served as a Committee Member of the Asian Karate Federation (AKF) since 2021, further reflecting his commitment to the growth of Karate in the region.
He was appointed as the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 31st SEA Games Vietnam 2021. Under his leadership, the Malaysian Contingent delivered an impressive performance, securing a total of 174 medals, comprising 39 gold, 45 and 90 bronze. This remarkable achievement not only surpassed the initial target of 36 gold medals but also placed Malaysia sixth among the 11 participating NOCs.
