The OCM extends its warmest wishes to Tan Sri Dato’ Seri P. Alagendra OLY on the occasion of his 96th birthday, celebrated on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025.
A legendary national Hockey player turned distinguished sports administrator, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri P. Alagendra OLY is a member of the Contingent of the Federation of Malaya that proudly marked the country’s first-ever participation at the Olympic Games, the XVI Olympiad Melbourne 1956.
Beyond his exceptional playing career, he has dedicated much of his life to the advancement of Hockey in Malaysia and beyond, serving in various roles including as a technical official, team manager and Chef de Mission, as listed below:

3. XXI Olympic Games Montreal 1976 – Assistant Team Manager
4. XXV Olympic Games Barcelona 1992 – Technical Official

A qualified technical official, he also served on the Technical Committee of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for a decade, from 1975 to 1985, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the sport globally.
As a visionary administrator, Tan Sri P. Alagendra was elected Deputy President of the Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF), now the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC), a position he held with distinction for 25 years (1980–2005). His leadership extended to the continental level, where he served as Secretary General of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) for 24 years (1990–2014).
He is also the founder of the Malaysian Olympians Association (MOA), established on 9th June 2001, which is affiliated with the World Olympians Association (WOA). This initiative reflects his enduring commitment to the Olympic Movement and the lifelong welfare of Malaysian Olympians.

“We applaud his lifelong contributions to the Olympic Movement, particularly in elevating the status of Hockey as a prominent Olympic sport. In recognition of his remarkable service, he was deservedly inducted into the OCM Hall of Fame in 2008” concluded Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
