Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, Vice President of OCM and President of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM), graced the closing and prize giving ceremony of the 19th Asian Canoe Polo Championships on Sunday, 14th September 2025.

The 5-day international championships, held from 10th to 14th September 2025 at the Putrajaya Water Sports Complex, was jointly hosted by the Malaysia Canoe Association (MASCA) in collaboration with the Putrajaya Corporation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia.

The 19th edition of the Asian Canoe Polo Championships brought together 9 member federations of the Asian Canoe Confederation (ACC), namely China, Hong Kong China, India, Iran, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and host nation Malaysia.

Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt witnessed 3 of the most spectacular matches of the championship: the Bronze Medal Match of the Men’s Open Category, followed by the Final Matches of both the Men’s and Women’s Open Categories.

Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt was given the great honour of presenting top scorer trophies and awarding medals to the winners across all categories.

“I am delighted to witness the historic victory of the Malaysian team, defeating Singapore 2-0 to secure the bronze medal in the Men’s Open Category, marking Malaysia’s first-ever podium finish since its debut 20 years ago in 2005”,

“In addition, our junior teams also proudly clinched a gold medal in the Women’s Under-21 Category and a bronze medal in the Men’s Under-21 Category”,

“The remarkable performance of our Canoe Polo teams at the 19th Asian Canoe Polo Championships stands as a great testament to the leadership of MASCA in driving the growth and development of this exciting discipline within Canoe sports” he concluded.
