The 206th OCM Executive Council Meeting and the 42nd OCM Annual General Assembly were held on Saturday, 16th of December 2023, from 11.30am to 1.33pm, at the PETRONAS Akademi Badminton Malaysia. Both meetings were chaired by OCM President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
Present at the meetings were members of the Executive Board, delegates from National Sports Associations affiliated to OCM, Representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Education (MOE).
Besides the normal proceedings, the highlights of both meetings were as follows:
(i) following the formation of the High-Performance Core Sports Program Evaluation Committee to evaluate the 103 sports listed under the Sports Development Act 1997 (amended 2023), OCM has nominated two Executive Board Members – Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt and Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali as members of the committee to represent the OCM by virtue of being the Chefs de Mission to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 and the 32nd SEA Games Cambodia 2023 respectively.
(ii) The Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOC) announced that OCM was one of the “Top 7 Absolute NOC Follower Growth” under the ANOC Digital Accelerator Program. The top seven were United States of America, Brazil, South Korea, India, Germany, Jordan and Malaysia.
(iii) OCM’s relocation project is on track, with a new piece of land proposed by the Stadium Board, next to the National Hockey Stadium, for the construction of the new OCM headquarters (Olympic House).
