Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, Vice President of OCM, presented his comprehensive Chef de Mission Report for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 during the OCM Executive Board Meeting No. 18 (2021-2025), held on Tuesday, 10th December 2024, at the Training Hall, Level 2C, OCM Indoor Sports Complex, Kuala Lumpur.
Prior to his presentation, Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt shared a short video showcasing highlights of the Malaysian Contingent, including their march into the Hangzhou Sports Park Stadium during the opening ceremony, moment of triumph by gold, silver and bronze medallists and scenes from the closing ceremony.
In his address, Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt expressed his gratitude to OCM, particularly to its President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, for entrusting him with the role of Chef de Mission. He led the Malaysian Contingent comprising 431 members, including 286 athletes and 145 team officials to participate in the 19th Asian Games, held from 23rd September to 8th October 2023, in Hangzhou, China.
He congratulated all the athletes on their remarkable achievements, securing a total of 32 medals, comprising of 6 gold, 8 silver and 18 bronze, placing the Malaysian Contingent at 14th out of 45 participating NOCs in the medal tally.
He has extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Deputy Chefs de Mission namely Datuk Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli, President of the Malaysia Boxing Federation and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Farrah Hani Imran, a former national gymnast and now the Head of Plastic Surgery, Burns Unit and Wound Care Team, Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Senior Lecturer at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM.
He further extended his appreciation to the Team Managers and members of the secretariat, comprising of officers from OCM, NSC and NSI, for their dedication in ensuring all matters pertaining to the Malaysian Contingent were effectively managed.
“Besides the above, I would also like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to all colleagues and friends from the print and electronic media for providing tremendous coverage of the Malaysian Contingent, from the Chef de Mission visits in Kuala Lumpur to the Team Managers Meetings, Presentation of 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻, Presentation of 𝗝𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 and throughout the Asian Games period in Hangzhou” added Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt.
He emphasized that the extensive media coverage fostered the spirit of unity among Malaysians, who stood firmly in support of the Malaysian Contingent.
On behalf of OCM, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria expressed his appreciation to Mahaguru Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt for his exemplary leadership.

“Most importantly, under his leadership, the Malaysian Contingent achieved an impressive total of 32 medals, surpassing the initial target of 27 medals, as set by the Ministry of Youth and Sports” stated Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, who is also the Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone.
