Strategic Partnership between SEAGF and Sunway Group



The South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) proudly announced the appointment of Sunway Group as its Strategic Partner for the term 2025-2027. This momentous partnership was officially celebrated at the magnificent Welcome Reception for the SEAGF Meetings No. 1 (2025-2027) held on Tuesday, 7th April 2026, at the stunning Lagoon 1 & 2, Level 15, Sunway Resort Hotel, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

To commemorate this significant collaboration, Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, President of SEAGF, who also serves as President of NOC Malaysia and Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia, presented a special plaque to Dr. Jeffrey CHEAH, Chairman of the Sunway Group.

The presentation was witnessed by the Honourable Dr. Mohammed Taufik JOHARI, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, who also serves as Chairman of the Malaysian SEA Games Organizing Committee (MASOC).

The Strategic Partnership between SEAGF and Sunway Group is a direct result of the vision and foresight of Dr. Norza ZAKARIA. By bringing Sunway Group on board, he has ensured that esteemed international delegates will experience top-class amenities, award-winning medical facilities and world-class hospitality within the Sunway City. This collaboration is set to support the 34th SEA Games Malaysia 2027, scheduled to take place from 18th to 29th September 2027 across four (4) clusters: Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Penang and Johor.

The Welcome Reception held added significance as it was organised in conjunction with the joyous celebrations of Eid Al-Fitr, creating a warm atmosphere of unity and festivity among all eleven (11) Member-NOCs of SEAGF, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.

The evening was further honoured by the presence of Honourable Dr. Mohammed Taufik JOHARI, alongside distinguished international dignitaries, including Mr. Ser Miang NG – IOC Member, HRH Prince Tunku IMRAN – IOC Honorary Member, HRH Prince Sufri BOLKIAH – President of NOC Brunei Darussalam, Congressman Abraham TOLENTINO – President of NOC Philippines, Mr. Chaiyapak SIRIWAT – Chief Executive Officer of SEAGF. Also in attendance were Vice Presidents, Secretaries Geneal and Executive Board Members of all the mentioned NOCs.

The event was further graced by senior leadership representing key stakeholders in Malaysian sports, including the Honourable Mordi BIMOL – Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Rahimi ISMAIL – Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Abdullah HASAN, Deputy Secretary General (Management) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mdm. Hong Jin CHAN – Deputy Secretary General (Strategic) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Jefri NGADIRIN, Director General of the National Sports Council, Dr. Vellapandian PONNUSAMY – Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Institute, Mr. Arrifin MOHD GHANI – Sports Commissioner of Malaysia, Mr. Iliyas JAMIL – Chief Executive Officer of the Stadium Malaysia Corporation, Mr. Ahmad Haridan MOHAMMED – Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education and Mr. Abdul Rashid YAAKUB, Chief Executive Officer – MASOC.

The reception was also strongly supported by the leadership of all fifty eight (58) National Federations affiliated with the NOC of Malaysia, who formed the majority of attendees at this prestigious gathering.
