Dr. Norza ZAKARIA Welcomes HH Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad AL-THANI to Malaysia

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA warmly welcomed HH Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad AL-THANI, President of OCA and President of NOC Qatar, who is on a one-day working visit to Malaysia on Monday, 20th April 2026.

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, Vice President of the OCA for the Southeast Asia Zone and President of NOC Malaysia, facilitated the working visit by coordinating two special audiences for HH Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad AL-THANI with His Majesty The King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim and His Excellency Prime Minister Anwar IBRAHIM.

HH Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad AL-THANI reaffirmed his continued support for the Olympic Movement in Malaysia, acknowledging the contributions of its leadership and encouraging Malaysia to host future OCA events, including the Asian Games, with the full support of the Government of Malaysia.

At the conclusion of his one-day working visit to Malaysia, HH Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad AL-THANI departed for Sanya, China, where he is scheduled to chair the 109th OCA Executive Board Meeting on Tuesday, 21st April 2026 and officiate the opening ceremony of the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026.

As Dr. Norza ZAKARIA will also attend the 109th OCA Executive Board Meeting and the 6th Asian Beach Games, he was cordially invited by HH Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad AL-THANI to travel on his private flight.

“I look forward to welcoming HH Sheikh Joaan to Malaysia again in the near future to further strengthen our collaboration in the Olympic Movement across Asia”,

“I have also extended an official invitation to HH Sheikh Joaan to witness the 34th SEA Games, which will be hosted by Malaysia in 2027” said Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, who also serves as President of the South East Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) for the term 2025-2027.
