The Secretary General of NOC Malaysia Officiated the Opening Ceremony of the 22nd Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championship in Malaysia



The 22nd Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships is being proudly organised by the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) from 21st to 27th August 2025 at Sunway Mega Lanes, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

This year’s Championships have drawn the participation of 88 promising young bowlers, comprising 56 males and 32 females, from 14 nations, namely Bahrain, Hong Kong China, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau China, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam and the host nation, Malaysia.

The Opening Ceremony was held on Thursday, 21st August 2025, at 12.00 noon, at Sunway Mega Lanes, where the honour of officiating the event was accorded to Mr. Mohd Nasir ALI, Secretary General of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (NOC Malaysia).

Mr. Mohammed Najeeb ABDULLAH, President of MTBC, in his welcome speech, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Sheikh Talal Mohammad AL-SABAH, President of the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF), for the trust and confidence placed in MTBC to once again host this prestigious event, which stands as one of the most significant competitions on the ABF calendar.

“Malaysia is honoured to have been entrusted by the ABF to host the Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships for the fourth time, having previously hosted it in 1996, 2009 and 2015” remarked Mr. Mohammed Najeeb ABDULLAH.

Mr. Mohd Nasir ALI, in his opening speech, congratulated Mr. Mohammed Najeeb ABDULLAH and the MTBC for their commitment and efforts in bringing the Championships back to Malaysia. He commended MTBC for its continuous dedication towards the promotion and development of Tenpin Bowling, both within Malaysia and across Asia.

He further highlighted Asia’s dominance in the sport, noting that many world champions in Tenpin Bowling have emerged from Asia. Expressing his delight at the strong turnout of young bowlers, he remarked:

“I believe that many among you will not only rise as future Asian Champions but also as World Champions”.

The Secretary General also took the opportunity to instil the values of 𝗢𝗟𝗬𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗠 among the bowlers.

“Although Tenpin Bowling is not yet part of the Olympic Programme, your dedication and commitment to this sport reflect the very essence of the 𝗢𝗟𝗬𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧” he said.

“By striving to be 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥, 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗘𝗥, 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥 – 𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥, you embody the values of 𝗢𝗟𝗬𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗠 in every roll of the ball, every frame played and every challenge overcome”.

He encouraged the young bowlers to uphold and embrace the 𝗢𝗟𝗬𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗖 𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗘𝗦 of 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘, 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧 and 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣, not only throughout the Championships but also in their future sporting journeys.

“Strive for 𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 in your performance by always giving your best effort. Demonstrate 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧 for the rules, your opponents, your coaches and yourselves. Above all, nurture 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣, not only within your teams but also across nations, to strengthen bonds and foster future collaboration for the growth of Tenpin Bowling in Asia and around the world”.

Following the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Mohammed Najeeb ABDULLAH presented a specially published coffee table book commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the MTBC to Mr. Mohd Nasir ALI. He also extended an invitation to visit the newly renovated MTBC office, which is located within the Sunway Mega Lanes.
