The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (NOC Hong Kong), organized an overseas exchange programme to Malaysia from 18th to 22nd August 2025, bringing a delegation of 30 youths and 6 accompanying officers.
On Tuesday, 19th August 2025, from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm, the delegation, led by its Vice President, The Hon. Kenneth FOK, BBS, JP, paid an official visit to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (NOC Malaysia). They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, President of NOC Malaysia and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), together with Dr. Kim Fatt CHONG, Vice President of NOC Malaysia and Ms. Moira Siew See TAN, Assistant Secretary General of NOC Malaysia.
During the visit, the delegation was given an insightful introduction to the Olympic Movement in Malaysia by Mr. Wan Hor FONG, General Manager of NOC Malaysia. The session was further enriched by an inspiring sharing dialogue with three distinguished Malaysian athletes:
1. 𝗠𝗱𝗺. 𝗟𝗶 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗡𝗚 – 2002 Commonwealth Games gold medallist in Badminton.
2. 𝗠𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝘂 𝗪𝗮𝗶 𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗟𝗬 – 2002 & 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, 2006 Asian Games silver medallist and 2001, 2003 & 2005 SEA Games gold medallist in Gymnastics.
3. 𝗠𝗿. 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗺𝘆 𝗧𝗔𝗡 – 2014 & 2018 Asian Games silver medallist and 2015 & 2019 SEA Games gold medallist in Tenpin Bowling.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Norza ZAKARIA expressed his deep appreciation to NOC Hong Kong for initiating the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NOC Malaysia during this overseas exchange programme.
“This important step is a reflection of the trust, respect and friendship extended to us and we truly value and appreciate this gesture” he stated.
“As the OCA Vice President responsible for the Southeast Asia Zone, I find it particularly meaningful that my counterpart in the East Asia Zone is The Hon. Timothy FOK, the father of The Hon. Kenneth FOK. This symbolic connection makes today’s MOU between our two NOCs even more historic and significant” quoted Dr. Norza ZAKARIA.
In his speech, The Hon. Kenneth FOK highlighted the importance of the partnership, noting that this MOU marks the first-ever agreement signed by NOC Hong Kong with another NOC worldwide.
“I am optimistic that closer collaboration between NOC Hong Kong and NOC Malaysia will not only create greater opportunities for youth exchange but also foster stronger bilateral cooperation in advancing the Olympic Movement in both NOCs” he affirmed.
The historic visit concluded with a dinner reception hosted by NOC Malaysia at Pik Wah Restaurant, a renowned Chinese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, further strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two NOCs.
