Welcome Julian Yee Zhi Jie OLY



The OCM welcomed the Olympic Figure Skater, Julian Yee Zhi Jie OLY, to its office on Wednesday, 4th January 2023.

Julian was the young athlete who had earned the quota place in Figure Skating which marked the historical first appearance of Malaysia in the Winter Youth Olympic Games, the II Winter Youth Olympic Games Lillehammer 2016. As Julian was 19 years old, 1 year exceeding the age limit range of 15-18 years which was fixed by the IOC, the quota place was given to Chew Kai Xiang.

Later, Julian, the Canada-based athlete, became the first Malaysian Figure Skater to qualify on merit to compete in the Olympic Winter Games, the XXIII Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, which also marked Malaysia’s debut in the Olympic Winter Games. He was ranked 25th in the Men’s Singles event. He was given the honour as the flagbearer of the Malaysian Contingent for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, which were held on 9th and 25th February 2018 respectively.

Julian was also a member of the Malaysian Contingent to the following Continental and Regional Multi-Sport Games under the jurisdiction of OCM, where he had achieved remarkable results in Figure Skating Men’s Singles event:

1. 8th Asian Winter Games Sapporo 2017 – Ranked 8th
2. 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017 – Gold
3. 30th SEA Games Philippines 2019 – Gold
