AQUATIC – SWIMMING
Khiew Hoe Yean’s bid to better his own national record in the men’s 400 metres freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games fell short when he finished fourth with a time of 3 minutes and 51.66 seconds, almost three seconds outside his best time registered in April. Uzbekistan’s Ilya Sibirtsev captured third spot with a 3:51.52s finish.
BADMINTON
Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei opened Malaysia’s campaign in badminton by beating Singaporean couple Terry Hee Yong Kai-Jessica Tan Wei Han 23-21, 21-12 in a Group D tie.
However Thinaah Muralitharan and Pearly Tan Koong Le lost 17-21, 20-22 after a tough 55-minute match against world number one pair Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan from China in the Women’s Doubles Group A encounter.
Men’s doubles specialists Aaron Chia Teng Fong OLY and Soh Wooi Yik OLY had to bounce back after a first set setback to win 19-21, 21-16 and 21-11 against Britain’s Sean Vendy-Ben Lane in the Group A clash.
SHOOTING
In his second Olympic appearance after Rio 2016, Johnathan Wong Guanjie OLY finished 26th out of 33 shooters at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre after accumulating 570 points, 14 points behind leader Serbian Damir Mikec and a far cry from his personal best of 585.

Motivation: Having qualified under the universality slot, Ruoxin is on a rich vein of form, having clocked national marks in the 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley at the Malaysia Short Course championship earlier this month but she will be taking part in the 100m breaststroke in Paris, with a personal best of 1:13.07.
