XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024 – Team Manager’s Meeting

The first Team Managers’ meeting for the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024 was held on Monday, 18 March 2024, at the Training Hall, Level 2C, OCM Indoor Sports Complex, Kuala Lumpur.

The meeting was chaired by Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024, accompanied by his deputy, Datuk Nicol Ann David.

Present at the meeting were the Team Managers and representatives from 9 National Sports Associations affiliated with OCM, namely Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Golf, Shooting, Sailing and Weightlifting.

Also present were Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin, Secretary-General of OCM, Dato’ Dr. S.S. Cheema, Chairperson of the Medical & Anti-Doping Committee of OCM and officials from various Government agencies, including the National Sports Council (NSC), the National Sports Institute (NSI), and the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (ADAMAS).

The meeting began with an opening speech by Datuk Hamidin, before Dato’ Dr. Cheema delivered gentle reminders on the athletes’ general well-being, health and diet, followed by briefings from Almas Afrida (Secretariat OCM), Mr. Azrul Hisyam (Director of the Athletes Division of NSC), Mohamad Fawwaz Jamal (Secretariat ISN), and Mr. Zulkifli Saref (Assistant Director, Educational & Therapeutic Use Exemption, ADAMAS).

“Today marks the first meeting of the Team Managers. We have briefed them on the their roles and responsibilities, the secretariat, the arrival and departure of members of the Contingent, facilities at the Athletes Village, sports venues, Rule 50 on clothing guidelines and the do’s and don’ts on social media for athletes and National Sports Associations,” said Datuk Hamidin at the press conference.

“Despite the limited accreditation quota, we will ensure the best support services and assistance are provided to the athletes throughout Paris 2024.

“The weather in Paris in July is expected to be at its hottest, possibly reaching 43 degrees Celsius. Therefore, athletes must ensure they stay hydrated in such conditions.”
