Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, Vice President of OCM and the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, continued his visit to meet up with the athletes in their final preparations for the Games on Friday, 4th August 2023.
For the second day of his visit, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt has met up with the athletes of 2 disciplines namely Rugby Sevens and Martial Arts – Karate.
The Rugby Sevens Team was having conditioning training at the Jungle Gym of the National Sports Institute (NSI). The Rugby Sevens Team of 12 players will be participating in the Asia Rugby Sevens – Round 1 Tournament, scheduled on 19th and 20th August 2023, prior to their participation in the 19th Asian Games
The Martial Arts – Karate Team consisting of 10 Karatekas (4 males & 6 females) having their daily training at the Gymnasium 3 of the National Sports Council (NSC). Out of the 10 Karatekas, 7 of them (4 males & 3 females) will be participating in the Kumite events while 3 females Karatekas will be participating in the Kata events. The Kumite Team will be having their training camp in Tunisia from 22nd August 2023 onward prior to their participation in the 2023 Karate 1-Premier League, scheduled from 8th to 10th September 2023, in Dublin, Ireland. The Kumite Team will be having their final training camp from 11th to 22nd September 2023 in Morocco before departing to Hangzhou for the 19th Asian Games.
