The Team Welcome Ceremony for the Malaysian Contingent at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was successfully held on Friday, 22 September 2023, from 10.25 am to 11.10 am, at the Flag Plaza, within the Athletes Village.
The Ceremony was officiated by Mr. Lu Chunqiang, Mayor of the Hangzhou Asian Games Village, who also serves as the Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Hangzhou Municipal People’s Congress and Executive Chief of the Asian Games Village Operations Centre.
During the Ceremony, Mr. Lu Chunqiang welcomed delegation from 6 NOCs namely Macau, China, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan and Vietnam.
He proudly mentioned that the Hangzhou Asian Games Village, which includes the Athletes Village, the Technical Officials Village and the Media Village, is the largest village ever assembled for an Asian Games, as the Village will accommodate nearly 20,000 athletes, team officials, technical officials and media professional during the period of the Games.

“Our goal has always been to deliver a streamlined, safe and spectacular event and our focus is on the athletes and providing outstanding services as we want you to feel at home” quoted Mr. Lu Chunqiang.
The Malaysian Contingent was represented by 27 members headed by the Chef de Mission, Dato’ (Dr.) Chong Kim Fatt, along with the 2 Deputy Chefs de Mission Datuk Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Farrah Hani Imran included the Secretariat Team led by the 2 General Managers of OCM Mr. Fong Wan Hor and Mr. Norhashimi Hussain and the E-Sports Team.
The highlights of the Team Welcome Ceremony included the playing of the national anthems and the raising of the national flags of the respective NOCs, symbolizing the warm welcome extended by the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC) and the host country, China.
