The 2025 CGF General Assembly was held on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, at the Ballroom on Level 3 of Hilton Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland.
The General Assembly commenced with a welcome address by the Interim President of the CGF, H.E. Dr. Donald RUKARE from Uganda.
The CGA Malaysia was officially represented by 3 delegates as follows:
1. Dr. Norza ZAKARIA (President)
2. Mdm. Nurul Huda ABDULLAH OLY (Vice President)
3. Mr. Mohd Nasir ALI (Secretary General)
Mr. Wan Hor FONG, the General Manager of CGA Malaysia, was also present at the General Assembly as an observer.
Besides the routine proceedings, the key decisions made during the 2025 CGF General Assembly were as follows:
1. Election of the City of Amdavad (Ahmedabad), the largest city in the State of Gujarat, India and a UNESCO World Heritage City since 2017, to host the centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030.
2. Acceptance of the Progress Report by the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
3. Acceptance of the Progress Report by the Malta 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games.
4. Adoption of the change of the Federation’s name from “Commonwealth Games Federation” to “Commonwealth Sport”.
5. Election of H.E. Dr. Donald RUKARE as the new President of Commonwealth Sport for the term until the 2027 General Assembly.
“On behalf of CGA Malaysia, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to CGA India and in particular to H.E. Mdm. P.T. USHA, President of CGA India, on the election of the City of Amdavad as the host of the centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030” stated Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, President of CGA Malaysia, who also serves as Vice President of the OCA for Southeast Asia Zone.
“We would also like to congratulate H.E. Dr. Donald RUKARE on his official election as the new President of Commonwealth Sport”.
“We look forward to contributing our support towards strengthening the Commonwealth Sport Movement across the 74 nations and territories under the new leadership of H.E. Dr. Donald RUKARE” added Dr. Norza ZAKARIA.

- The Indian communities in both Glasgow and London are jointly celebrating the election of the City of Amdavad (Ahmedabad) as the host of the centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030.
