Courtesy Visit To The Chinese Olympic Committee (COC)



The Vice President of the OCM, Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, made a courtesy visit to the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) in Beijing, China on Tuesday, 21st March 2023.

Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, who is also the President of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM), President of the Wushu Federation of ASEAN-China (WFAC) and Executive Board Member of the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA) as well as the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), was warmly welcomed by His Excellency Mr. Zhou Jinqiang, the Vice President of COC, who is also the President of the Chinese Weightlifting Association (CWA) and the Deputy Head of the General Administration of Sport of China.

Presence together in welcoming Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt were Mr. Chen Entang, the Director of the Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and Mr. Su Chen, the Vice President of the WFAC.

The courtesy visit by Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt to the COC was part of the missions and initiatives of the President of OCM, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, to strengthen the cooperation in sports development and in the Olympic Movement between the OCM and other NOCs in the region/continent.

“China has contributed tremendously in facilitating the development of sports in Malaysia over the past decades since the 1980s”,

“Chinese coaches were engaged by various National Sports Associations (NSAs) namely Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Canoe, Fencing, Gymnastics, Shooting, Swimming (Diving), Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting and of course Wushu”,

“I am mandated by our President, Tan Sri Dr. Norza Zakaria, to explore further partnership with the COC for the enhancement of the Olympic Movement between Malaysia and China”,

“I am glad that His Excellency Mr. Zhou Jinqiang has given the assurance that the Chinese Olympic Committee together with the General Administration of Sport of China will continue their policy to support our sports development programmes which include the joint training sessions of our national athletes with their national athletes”,

“I have also extended the invitation from our President, Tan Sri Dr. Norza Zakaria, to His Excellency Mr. Gao Zhidan, the President of the COC, to visit Malaysia for further discussions and to enhance the bi-lateral relationship between the OCM and the COC” stated Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt.

Dato’ Chong Kim Fatt, who is the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, also took the opportunity to wish the COC and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC) the best of luck in their third attempt to organise the Asian Games after Beijing 1990 and Guangzhou 2010.
