Gold and Silver Medals for Malaysia at the VII Commonwealth Youth Games Trinbago 2023



CGA Malaysia warmly extends its heartiest congratulations to two athletes, Goh Li Hen and Nur Alyssa Mohd Farid, for adding the glitter of gold and silver respectively, at the VII Commonwealth Youth Games Trinbago 2023 on Wednesday, 9th August 2023.

Li Hen, 17, claimed the Contingent’s first gold medal by successfully recording a time of 2:03.63 to claim the gold medal in the Men’s 200m Butterfly event for Aquatics-Swimming at the National Aquatic Centre in Trinidad. He outperformed swimmers from England, Reuben Rowbotham-Keating, who took the silver medal, and Jarden Dylan Eaton from South Africa, who secured the bronze medal.

Earlier, Nur Alyssa also excelled by contributing a silver medal in the Women’s Sprint event for Cycling – Track. The 17-year-old cyclist had to concede victory to Scotland’s athlete Sarah Johnson in the final. The bronze medal in this event went to Liliya Tatarinoff from Australia, who triumphed over another Malaysian representative, Yong Ann Tung.

“I am very happy and proud of our athletes today. All those who competed today gave their best, and we are fortunate to have secured the gold and silver medals from Goh Li Hen and Nur Alyssa.

“Thursday, August 10, 2023, marks the final day for our national athletes to compete in the Cycling – Track events, and I hope we end the campaign on a high note,” stated Mrs. Ang Li Peng, Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent.

This brings the Contingent’s medal haul to three medals thus far – one gold, one silver and one bronze ahead of the final day of the Games.
