The Golden Sprint Of Shereen Samson Vallabouy



Ms. Shereen Samson Vallabouy has contributed the 12th gold medal for the Malaysian Contingent to the 32nd SEA Games Cambodia 2023 on Tuesday, 9 May 2023.

The gold medal was contributed by Ms. Shereen Samson Vallabouy in the Women’s 400m event with the timing of 52.53s. The silver and bronze medals of the event were won by the Vietnamese Ms. Thi Huyen Nguyen (53.27s) and Ms. Thi Hang Nguyen (53.84s) respectively.

The US-based Shereen Samson Vallabouy, 25 years old, who had just set the national record in Women’s 400m with a timing of 51.8s recently at the St Mac Relays Invitational Elite competition in California on Friday, 14 April 2023, is making her 3rd appearance in the SEA Games.

The spectacular win by Shereen Samson Vallabouy in the Women’s 400m is rated as her milestone achievement as it is her first gold medal winning at the SEA Games level. She had won a bronze medal in the same event at the 28th SEA Games Singapore 2015 when she was 17 years old. She was also a member of the Women’s 4x400m Relay Team who had contributed a bronze medal at the 29th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 2017.

Y.B. Dato’ Shahrul Zaman Yahya, Vice President of OCM, who is also President of the Malaysia Rugby and Council Member of the Asia Rugby was given the honour to present the medals for the Women’s 400m event.
