The Malaysia Karate Federation (MAKAF), in collaboration with the World Karate Federation (WKF), is proudly hosting the WKF Karate 1 Series A, from 3rd to 5th October 2025, at the N9 Arena, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
This prestigious championship, which has brought together 1,076 karatekas from 81 nations worldwide, was officially inaugurated by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, on Saturday, 4th October 2025.
“I wish to take this opportunity to commend MAKAF for its unwavering dedication, tireless efforts and steadfast commitment to promoting the development of Karate, not only in Malaysia but also on the global stage” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of OCM and Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone.
“The successful organisation of the WKF Karate 1 Series A in Malaysia stands as a testament to MAKAF’s outstanding contributions to the sport at both national and international levels. It further reflects the dedication, perseverance and collective spirit of every MAKAF member, guided by the visionary leadership of its President, Datuk Wira Dr. Nur Azmi Ahmad, who also serves as the Deputy President of OCM” he added.
Although Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Mohamad Norza Zakaria was unable to be present at the opening ceremony, he designated Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali, Secretary General of OCM, as his official representative.
The distinguished dignitaries in attendance at the opening ceremony included Mr. Antonio Espinós, President of the WKF and Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Seri Setia Dr. Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, who also serves as a WKF Executive Committee Member and the 3rd Vice President of the Asian Karate Federation (AKF).
Also present were Mdm. Nurul Huda Abdullah OLY, Vice President of OCM, Mr. Mirzan Mahathir, President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM), Y.B. Hajah Alwiyah Talib, President of the Malaysian Netball Association (MNA) and Mr. Willeam Mah Choon How, President of the Softball Association of Malaysia (SAM).
