XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024 – Chef de Mission Visit (1st March 2024)

Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024, along with his deputy, Datuk Nicol Ann David, paid a visit to cyclist Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir at the National Velodrome in Nilai on Friday, 1st March 2024.

Nur Aisyah is the only road cyclist who has qualified for Paris 2024. She was chosen by the Malaysian National Cycling Federation after Malaysia secured a slot on the strength of having been in the top two countries among those who have not qualified for Paris at the Asian Road Cycling Championships in Thailand in June 2023.

“Aisyah and her coach, Amir Mustafa Rusli, shared with me about the sport in greater depth, enabling us to understand how best to support her in her preparation. This sport needs a good tactical approach and also good gear (bicycle). Together with Dato Nicol and the secretariat, we will do our best to assist her on her debut at Paris,” said Datuk Hamidin.

“Aisyah is the first female road cyclist from Malaysia to compete in the Olympic Games and I am immensely proud of her. I looking forward to witnessing her performance in Paris. Competing against most of the Professional Cyclists in the World Tour is never easy but we encourage her to give her all. I will be there to support her on the day of the event,” added Datuk Nicol Ann David.

Aisyah and the national road team will compete and undergo a training camp in Vietnam and Thailand. Prior to Paris 2024, she will also attend a training camp in Europe.
