The decisive match of Group D favoured Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei as they made a comeback to defeat China’s mixed doubles, Feng Yan Zhe/Huang Dong Ping, with a score of 17-21, 21-15, 21-16, finishing the group stage as the champions of Group D as well as earning them a standing ovation from a sizeable number of Malaysians among the crowd.
Goh Jin Wei made a positive start in her first game, winning in straight sets 23-21, 21-11 over Johanita Scholtz from South Africa.
Aaron Chia OLY/Soh Wooi Yik OLY concluded the group stage in the wee hours as runners-up in Group A of the Men’s Doubles after narrowly losing 22-24, 14-21 to world No. 1 pair, Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang from China. Despite the loss, the Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists advanced to the quarterfinals, having secured victories in their two previous group stage matches.

If they succeed in overcoming the Indonesian pair, expect another standing ovation from the supportive crowd at Arena Porte de la Chapelle.
